Five domains · connected perspectives

Understand Industry 5.0 through five connected perspectives.

Industry 5.0 looks beyond what a technology can do to ask how it improves people’s experience, uses resources responsibly and remains useful when conditions change. i5Benchmark brings these questions together through five connected domains: Human Experience, Sustainable Practices, Resilience & Adaptability, Responsible Innovation and Accountability. For innovation teams, this means examining adoption barriers, environmental trade-offs and operational dependencies together — before deciding what to improve and how to scale.

Choose a context to explore how the five domains apply.

Your innovation within five Industry 5.0 domainsHuman Experience, Sustainable Practices, Resilience and Adaptability, Responsible Innovation and Accountability connect to your innovation. Context brings relevant connections into focus.

Technology through an Industry 5.0 lens

A technology can perform well technically while creating very different outcomes for people, the environment and the organisation around it. Industry 5.0 helps teams consider these relationships together rather than treating them as separate issues.

Guidance to consider

Human Experience
Consider the technology’s effects on work quality, safety, autonomy, inclusion and wellbeing.
Sustainable Practices
Explore changes in resource use, environmental impact, circularity and operational efficiency.
Resilience & Adaptability
Consider potential benefits for continuity and adaptability alongside any new dependencies.
Responsible Innovation
Choose technology that fits the problem, with sufficient evidence and capability to support its design and deployment.
Accountability
Clarify responsibility for the technology’s effects and how concerns, failures and unintended consequences can be identified and addressed.

Organisation through an Industry 5.0 lens

Industry 5.0 connects strategy with the way an organisation works, uses resources, adapts and takes responsibility. It helps teams bring sustainability, innovation and human outcomes into the same practical decisions.

Guidance to consider

Human Experience
Connect strategic goals with work quality, participation, skills and the experience of people affected.
Sustainable Practices
Consider how operations, procurement and everyday choices influence resource use and environmental impact.
Resilience & Adaptability
Identify the capabilities, relationships and learning practices that support continuity through change.
Responsible Innovation
Choose innovations that fit the organisation’s purpose, context and capacity to implement them responsibly.
Accountability
Make decision ownership, oversight and follow-up clear so that commitments can be translated into practice.

People through an Industry 5.0 lens

People’s lived experience helps teams understand how transformation works in practice. Listening to workers, users and communities brings safety, agency, inclusion, skills and wellbeing into decisions from the beginning.

Guidance to consider

Human Experience
Learn from the people affected, including those whose experiences may be missing from the usual feedback channels.
Sustainable Practices
Connect environmental choices with people’s health, working conditions and access to resources.
Resilience & Adaptability
Support skills, learning and practical alternatives that help people adapt to change.
Responsible Innovation
Involve affected people in design and testing, with meaningful opportunities to influence implementation.
Accountability
Provide clear routes for explanation, concerns, correction and follow-up.

Environment through an Industry 5.0 lens

Resource use, climate, circularity and ecological impact are connected to how organisations design, source, operate and adapt. Industry 5.0 helps teams consider these effects alongside human outcomes and long-term resilience.

Guidance to consider

Human Experience
Consider how environmental changes affect workers, users and surrounding communities.
Sustainable Practices
Look across resource inputs, energy, waste and product lifecycles to understand impacts and circular opportunities.
Resilience & Adaptability
Connect climate and resource dependencies with continuity planning and adaptive capacity.
Responsible Innovation
Compare practical alternatives and consider unintended effects before adopting a new approach.
Accountability
Keep the scope, assumptions, sources and responsibility behind environmental claims visible.

Evidence through an Industry 5.0 lens

Claims become stronger when they are supported by traceable, current and context-relevant evidence. Connecting records, observations and research helps teams understand what is known, what remains uncertain and what to learn next.

Guidance to consider

Human Experience
Include affected people’s experience alongside operational records, with appropriate consent and context.
Sustainable Practices
Connect environmental claims with relevant measurements, boundaries, dates and sources.
Resilience & Adaptability
Use incident records, continuity exercises and follow-up observations to learn how systems respond to change.
Responsible Innovation
Keep design choices, testing and implementation learning connected to the problem being addressed.
Accountability
Record provenance, ownership and limitations; identify missing, contradictory or outdated evidence and plan follow-up.

Start with one real decision.

Choose a technology, workflow or organisational change. Use these perspectives to connect the people affected, the resources involved and the evidence you already have. Identify one practical improvement and what you could learn from following it up.

How it works

From evidence gaps to product and deployment priorities.

  1. 01

    Scope the decision.

Agree the product, deployment decision, evidence boundary, participants and confidential materials.

  2. 02

    Review the evidence.

Examine available technical, stakeholder and organisational evidence against relevant i5Benchmark considerations; record the methodology version used.

  3. 03

    Prioritise improvements.

Discuss material gaps and trade-offs; separate insufficient documentation from evidence of an adverse outcome.

  4. 04

    Build the roadmap.

Assign proposed actions, responsible roles, review points and evidence needed over the next 90 days.

The review connects the team’s objectives, available evidence and stakeholder context with the next product or deployment decision. It distinguishes missing evidence from performance problems, examines trade-offs and turns findings into practical priorities with the team.

Research basis

The evidence-review core draws on i5Benchmark research and methodology to connect documented challenges, relevant indicators and evidence with improvement decisions. It cites i5Benchmark Methodology v2.0, adopted on 25 October 2026 for the formation phase and open for public consultation; see Documents & versions on i5benchmark.com. The methodology version and reference scope are recorded for the engagement.

Engagement & scope

Plan your review and next steps.

Agree the decision, participants, information access and confidentiality arrangements before work begins. A working session and scoped follow-up discussion connect findings to next steps. The 90-day roadmap is an implementation horizon, not 90 days of included advisory support. No software subscription is required.

Research-informed evidence review and action planning. Formal certification, accredited conformity assessment, laboratory testing and guaranteed performance outcomes are outside scope.

Service provider: Sustainable Intelligence ASBL, Belgium.

Evidence readiness for issuers, financial institutions and investment teams is covered by the separate Sustainable Finance and Evidence Readiness service.

What to prepare

  • The decision, technology or change you want to examine, and who takes part.
  • Existing evidence: documents, operational records, stakeholder feedback and any earlier assessments.
  • The reporting, funding or customer requirements that apply to you, if known.
  • A contact who can arrange access to information and agree confidentiality.
